We Believe in Better

What comes to mind when you see the word DIET? Restrictions? Hunger? Calorie counting? Expensive? Not for me? Something you’d have to ‘’be on’’ to improve your health or fitness? Unenjoyable? Eating food, you don’t like? Hard work? A generally negative feeling?

Well, you’re not alone. The words DIET tends to have a negative undertone; however diet is also:

- food and drink regularly provided or consumed,

- habitual nourishment.

This means, diet is what we eat and drink on a daily basis, so let’s look at it from a different perspective. At GOE, we believe that healthy nutrition (your diet) is a crucial element of a healthy and happy life, and we promote the idea of changing your habits, rather than ‘’going on a diet’’.

In this section we will share different nutritional myths, theories, advice, food recipes and more. We want you to be fully equipped and empowered.

What if we told you that little daily adjustments can give you significant overall results? What if we told you that you can still enjoy your favourite foods and drinks, and don’t kill yourself in the gym? At GOE, we believe that life is to be enjoyed and this can be achieved with just a little effort and commitment.

What is a healthy diet and why is it important for our overall wellbeing?

A healthy diet is a diet that maintains or improves overall health. A healthy diet provides the body with essential nutrition: fluid, macronutrients such as protein, micronutrients such as vitamins, and adequate fibre and food energy.

A healthy diet is essential for good health. It protects you against many chronic noncommunicable diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. Eating a variety of foods and consuming less salt, sugars and saturated and industrially produced trans-fats are essential for a healthy diet.

There are 7main components of a balanced diet: Carbohydrates, Proteins, Fats, Vitamins, Minerals, Fibre and Water.

In simple terms - if you look after your diet, you’ll look after your immune system, sleep, skin and hair, mental and emotional health, and body.
